It’s been a couple of decades since I fitted any bifold doors, so I’ve just paddled around the internet to see what’s about these days and my goodness, things
have moved on a bit from louvered doors!

As an aside, I’m also going to have a look at mobile telephones in the internet in a bit; I think I remember someone telling me you can get them with integral batteries nowadays?

(Obviously “my goodness” is not one of my normal expletives but my wife told me I’ve got to be a bit circumspect and consider other people's feelings)!

External wall “bifolds” tend to be made for wider openings than the usual “patio door” sizes. The plan seems to be to completely open up a wall and “bring the garden into the home”. We don't need bi-fold doors for that. We've got a dog.

The main problem with bifolds is that if you have the doors “made to measure”, they are expensive. So, if you have yet to make the opening and want “bifolds”, I suggest you make your gap width relevant to an existing “off the peg” door size.
