I have compiled a list – over years of experience and usually feed back from customers regarding expensive jobs they have had done in the past – of the jobs where the labour to profit ratio was inordinately high.

These things happen and, as long as the customer is happy with the job then there is no real problem. To use an analogy, if you want to east salmon, you can fish for it and get it for free. If you buy it at the fishmongers it will cost you, if you get it at the fanciest restaurant in town you will pay through the nose.

In ALL cases, though, you are eating salmon, the outcome is the same, but the cost is different.

So if a builder does a job and you are satisfied, like the fancy restaurant you are likely to return!

Some jobs are naturally more profitable than others – electricians and gas fitters come to mind where courses, safety and certification come into play. Others, well…why not read the list!
